Unveiling success
Young Aemani Zimran's startup sells scarves and made a success of it.
‘Veil It’ is the name of success for the young Aemani Zimran, a 21-year old final year visual arts student at Stella Maris in Chennai.
Aemani, daughter of K.V. Mohamed Nizar, a business man and ex-actor, and Reshma Nizar, owns a startup of scarves in Kozhikode. She drew inspiration from her sister Shireen Shahanato, a fashion designer in Chennai, to dive into the world of business.
‘Veil It’, a brand that sells georgette and cotton scarves online, conducted its first two-day exhibition in Kozhikode on May 22 and 23. It was hit with most pieces, each priced ' 399, were sold out on day one.
She launched her business in February after her followers on Instagram showed an interest in the way she carried her hijab and the unique colours she owned.
“I had never thought that I would get into business at any point in life. The first thought that ran through my mind when I thought of business was numbers and math and I have never been good at it. I was always interested in pursuing psychology but fate had different plans for me,” said Aemani.
Sitting in Chennai, Aemani manages her business with the help of her family. Her three younger brothers are the pillars of her success. “Without whom ‘Veil It’ would not be born”.
According to Aemani, “the hijab is a rule we practice out of our devotion towards our religion. If anyone is a non-hijabi, then it doesn’t make them any less a Muslim. The basic idea is to be modest and modesty is to be first placed at our hearts than on our head.”
The scarves come in various shades like umber, hazel, tea rose, denim, ruby, and nude beige.
“I love the theme of black and white that she follows promisingly in her profile,” said Mohammed Rafeeq, a resident of Thrissur and follower of Aemani on Instagram. “The pictures posted have a class to them and a soothing touch. The wrinkles of the hijab are emphasised and the looks extraordinarily beautiful.”
Nehla Janseer, another customer, says she loves the scarves because they come in colours that are not easily available in the market.
“The material is smooth and changes the complete look of your attire. The prices are also very reasonable.”
