Exaggerated sleeves in bright hues are in, so amp up your personal style by sporting em! es.

Exaggerated sleeves have stirred up a storm. From oversized to ruffled, cinched at the wrist to exaggerated cuffs etc. This very generic fashion statement is not something people should shy away from trying. Bollywood stars like Sonam Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Jacqueline Fernandez have sported this trend extremely well. We spoke to Bengaluru-based designers to find out what they think of this trend.

Some trends suit one particular body types but this trend is universal. City-based designer Anjali Sharma says, “The exaggerated sleeves trend I think is an exquisite trend that everyone needs to try.  Most of our Bollywood stars are sporting this style very well like Deepika Padukone, Sonam Kapoor etc. It is very generic and not restricted to a particular body type. Light weight fabrics work well with this trend, but designers have used stiffer fabrics as well.”

One can upgrade any plain outfit by sporting these sleeves. City based designer Monali Ranke says, “This trend works really well with petite body types. Add this style to a normal saree blouse to give an edgy look to the otherwise boring saree or with a western outfit like an off shoulder jumpsuit.” Rest of the outfit should be minimal. Designer Anjali Sharma says, “Funky sleeves will go really with light weight saree or lehenga.”

Right accessories work wonders with this trend. Designer Riya Kodali says, “A lot is going on in the neck region so it is better to keep the accessories to a minimum. A pair of chandelier earrings or even a stud will make this trend stand out.” This trend is an attention seeker so it better to keep the rest of outfit minimal. Designers Riya Kodali says, “It draws a lot of attention to itself, so when one is trying out this look, it is better to keep the rest of the look as minimal as possible.” Designer Monali also adds, “People who have broad shoulders should be careful of the type of sleeves they select to sport as some of the sleeves will make their shoulders look broader.”
