Hyderabad: Denmark issued a warning against South Korea’s popular brand of spicy ramen due to health concerns.

Three products of the well-known Buldak instant ramen brand were withdrawn from sale by the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration (DVFA) due to concerns that they have an excessive amount of chili in them.

On Tuesday, the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration made a statement saying "The level in a single packet of the noodles is so high that they pose a risk of the consumer developing acute poisoning."

The statement further added, "If you have the products, you should discard them or return them to the store where they were purchased."

They also issued a warning against minors for eating the noodles and also advised parents to contact the Poison Line if their children show "acute symptoms" upon ingestion.

As per the statement of the Danish body, "the three products of the noodles contain excessive amounts of capsaicin, the ingredient that makes chili peppers more spicy."

The "Capsaicin," is a naturally occurring ingredient that gives chilli peppers their heat, and it is what causes people to either love or hate the food.

Samyang Foods, a South Korean firm that manufactures Buldak noodles, said that it is the first time they had been recalled for their products being too hot and spicy.

The Samyang products are very popular overseas. In 2023, the firm had a revenue of 2.3 billion dollars. In Korean the word 'Buldak' translates into 'Fire Chicken.' The varieties of noodles that were subject to the ban are Samyang Buldak 3x and Hot Chicken, Samyang Buldak 2x Spicy & Hot Chicken, and Samyang Buldak Hot Chicken Stew.
