Hyderabad: The National Institute of Nutrition (NIN) on Friday, unveiled a web application, the 'Nutrition Atlas', an interactive platform for accessing nutrition data from various national surveys.

The atlas, accessible via www.nutritionalatlasindia.in or www.nutritionatlasindia.com, amalgamates nutrition-related data from different time periods and regions. It was developed by Dr Subba Rao M. Gavaravarapu and his team and launched by NIN director Dr Hemalatha R.

Dr Hemalatha said the advanced features of Nutrition Atlas 2.0, included web-based dashboards and user-friendly interfaces. These tools enabled users to visualise and compare nutritional indicators from multiple national surveys simultaneously.

Dr Vishnu Vardhana Rao, the former director of National Institute of Medical Statistics (NIMS), New Delhi, who co-ordinated the project, elaborated on the evolution of the Nutrition Atlas.

Dr Gavaravarapu noted that the web application was tailored to meet the needs of user groups. The tool's 'nutri-education' component would serve as a valuable resource for dietary recommendations, nutrient functions, and the nutritional values of raw foods.
