Hyderabad: Husbands’ emotional support plays a vital role throughout pregnancy, during delivery, and even after childbirth, emphasized the consultant gynecologists and high-risk pregnancy specialists from KIMS Cuddles Hospital, Gachibowli. Speaking at the "Mom-to-Be Carnival 2025," held on Sunday evening, they highlighted that husbands who actively support their wives make normal deliveries more achievable.
The specialists urged husbands to provide constant care and understanding from the moment pregnancy is confirmed. They emphasized the importance of monitoring the physical and emotional changes in their partners and promptly consulting medical professionals when needed. The event saw the participation of 60 expectant mothers, each around six months pregnant, accompanied by their husbands, creating a vibrant and engaging atmosphere.
Promoting Normal Deliveries
“In recent times, there has been an increase in unnecessary cesarean sections. This trend is influenced by various factors, including the involvement of doctors, families, and sometimes the expectant mothers themselves. Fear of labor pain or misconceptions about potential complications often drive requests for cesareans. Additionally, some couples opt for C-sections to align the delivery with specific auspicious timings.
Such practices are not advisable. From both the mother’s and baby’s health perspectives, normal delivery is the best option. Cesarean sections should only be considered when medically necessary, such as in cases of breech positions or other complications,” explained the doctors.
Comprehensive Guidance for Expectant Mothers
The “Mom-to-Be Carnival 2025” also included detailed sessions on essential nutrition, exercises to maintain a healthy pregnancy, and skills for breastfeeding. KIMS Cuddles places significant emphasis on promoting normal deliveries, equipped with advanced facilities to handle complex cases. For instance, in situations involving severe blood loss during delivery, the uterine artery embolization method is employed to save the uterus.
The hospital is also equipped with a Level 4 NICU to care for premature babies, ensuring survival even for those weighing less than 700 grams.
The event was organized under the leadership of consultant gynecologists, obstetricians, and laparoscopic surgeons, including Dr. D.S. Nikitha Reddy, Dr. Kavya Priya Vajrala, and Dr. Sahithi Balmuri.
