Baby in thirties may help mums live longer
According to researchers, women who conceive later in life are mostly of a better social standing allowing them to have a better life.
While women who wait till later in life to have a baby are often criticized, a new study has emerged saying that women who have babies in their 30s can go on to live longer.
Researchers compared the life expectancy of more mature women with the age they had a baby and found that women who had children later in life were more likely to live for longer than those who gave birth during their teens and twenties.
Sometimes, doctors warn that women should start trying for a child before they are in their thirties otherwise they risk being unable to conceive as apparently there is a decline in quality and quantity of eggs.
But the new study, throws fresh light on the issue saying that women who conceive later in life and have a late baby are likely to live longer too.
The study was published in the Journal of Public Health.
The study was conducted by researchers from the University of Coimbra in Portugal.
According to one expert, while there may be several factors contributing to it, one major reason women who give birth later in life tend to be of a higher social standing and have a better income. Their better social standing and higher level of education lets them have a longer life since they can afford to lead healthier lifestyle.
