Sevana Sparsham' comes to cancer patient's aid

ALAPPUZHA: District collector Veena N. Madhavan has ordered the RDO to take legal action against the children of a nonagenarian cancer patient who were not taking care of him. The collector also asked  RDO Muraleedharan Pilliai to help him  get pension. This was one of the 600 cases settled out of 2,100 complaints received at  ‘Sevana Sparsham,’ the collector's taluk-level complaint-redressal initiative held in Cherthala taluk  on Monday. Most of the complaints were received in the categories of medical relief,  landless and priority list cases. Forty-two people were given medical relief under the chief minister’s relief fund and  95 cases relating to land were settled.

The complainants  gathered at the venue, Sree Narayana High School,  since 8 a.m. when the registration  began.  Unsettled cases were handed over to the officials concerned  and they were instructed to submit a report.   The update on the cases will be available on the website  http://www.ssdcalp.i /sevanasparsham/. Physically challenged people and the  relatives of accident victims also  got relief.  The complaints of many people suffering from chronic deceases were put up for further consideration by the  tahasidar. As many as 60 cases relating to survey were received in the  programme which was attended by additional district magistrate M.K. Kabeer also.     ‘Sevana Sparsham’ in Ambalappzha taluk will be held at SDV school ground on April 7 and that in Kuttanad taluk  on the campus of   Rice Research Institute at  Mankombu on April 10.
