There has been a rise in the number of mouth cancer cases in the UK, according to a report by the Metro.
Latest figures reveal 18 people are diagnosed with the disease on a daily basis. Despite the alarming number, many are unaware of the threat of the disease or how to detect it.
In the report, Dr Raha Sepehrara, a dentist explained what are the types, symptoms and risk factors of mouth cancer.

Symptoms of mouth cancer
* Ulcers that haven't healed in weeks |
* Abnormal swellings |
* Lumps in or around the mouth, neck or head |

* Unhealthy diet |
* Smoking |
*Second-hand smoking |

Mouth cancer check
Dentists normally do a routine check-up of the disease. If they do not, request for one.
"The dentist, before checking inside the mouth, checks for any lumps or bumps visible on face or neck," Dr Sepehrara told the Metro. Adding, "Then we check inside the mouth, we check the lips, cheeks, roof of mouth, floor of mouth, tongue (top, bottom, sides), generally check the skin of all parts of the mouth."
