Karnataka vaccination drive: DPI issues notice to Koramangala NPS
Several private schools in the city have asked parents to give it in writing if the children have to be vaccinated.
Bengaluru: Just 24 hours before the state government kicked off its ambitious measles and rubella vaccination drive at all schools of the state, the Department of Public Instruction (DPI) has issued a notice to NPS, Koramangala for not allowing officials from the education and health departments to enter the school campus to discuss the issue.
The notice issued by BEO, South -3, K.L. Rameshaiah, states, “These officials wanted to discuss the vaccination drive with school authorities which is mandatory as per the government circular."
He warned that appropriate action will be taken against the school if it fails to adhere to the government direction. Meanwhile, several private schools in the city have asked parents to give it in writing if the children have to be vaccinated.
“All the schools want written permission from the parents to ensure that there will not be any confusion. Many parents have already administered these vaccines. That is why this confusion is prevailing," said a principal of a private school.
