Hyderabad: Robotic kidney transplants on three patients from live donors were carried out at Yashoda Hospitals on Wednesday. They were suffering from the chronic kidney disease and had their close relatives donate the kidneys.
Robotic kidney transplant is the first in Telangana. They have earlier been conducted in Maharashtra, Karnataka, New Delhi and Gujarat. Nephrologist Dr Urmila Anandh said, “In live donations, we collect the kidney from one person and plant it in another one. Robotised machines are set up and the surgery starts immediately.”
