Smell of food can cause seizures for woman battling rare medical condition

The smell of food or laundry detergent can cause Cheyanne Perry to suffer seizures, The Mirror reported.

The 21-year-old, who is allergic to practically everything, is battling Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, Mast Cell Activation Syndrome and Gastroparesis.

The symptoms of her chronic illnesses worsened with age and she hasn't eaten a slice of food in almost three years.

Her family cooks in a kitchen they built in a garage and uses unscented toiletries and laundry detergents.

Her condition has forced her to stay at home and she has to wear a face mask on those rare days she does go outside to protect her from allergic reactions.

"I can have reactions to perfumes, smoke from the fireplace, the temperature and even the scent of the shampoo someone recently used," she is quoted as saying by The Mirror.

Adding, "The most difficult part has been the inability to be around most people."

Despite her challenges, she is hopeful her situation will improve. “It’s really difficult with these illnesses. I can feel better for months at a time and then unexpectedly wind up in the hospital again," she said.

“No matter what happens, I always have hope that things will get better for me.”
