Kozhikode: New primary health clinics to treat common diseases soon

The inputs will be presented during the state-level meeting and then will be sent to Delhi to prepare the detailed project.

KOZHIKODE: The National Urban Health Mission (NUHM) will start new primary health clinics in the city soon  to solve the shortage of such clinics to treat  common diseases.   A preliminary  meeting to work out the details  will be held in Kozhikode on February 22 and  Koyilandy on February 23 in which elected representatives from all the urban civic bodies will participate. The inputs will be presented during the state-level meeting and then will be sent  to Delhi to prepare the detailed project.

The representatives from Kozhikode Corporation and Ramanattukara, Mukkam and Feroke municipalities will take part in the meeting here on February 22.  The  members from Koyilandy, Koduvally, Payyoli and Vadakara municipalities will attend  the meeting at Koilandy.   Kozhikode Municipal Corporation health officer Dr  R.S . Gopakumar  said that the new urban clinics were coming up with a funding proportion of 60 (central) :40 (state).

“Health department officials will collect the details regarding the health issues  in the respective wards  like concentration of mosquitoes, lack of drainage system, waste management issues,  diseases  in a particular area and the type of diseases,” he added. Similar meetings will be held in all districts across the state this month.
