Cooperative Neethi mobile medical lab helps people perform tests at affordable rates
Kozhikode: The Kozhikode District Medical diagnostic and Para- medical cooperative society launched a Cooperative Neethi Mobile Medical lab on Saturday. The mobile laboratory aims at helping people get their medical tests close to their homes. The Cooperative mobile laboratory is different from the other labs in the private sector in terms of the rates charged because it is half of what is charged by private centres. The medical laboratory is specifically designed as a clinical laboratory where tests can be performed (on clinical specimens), in order to get information about the health of patients including diagnosis, treatment required and prevention of diseases.
“The facilities of this mobile laboratory mainly targets bedridden patients, for whom leaving home would compromise their health or for those patients who have a disorder such as agoraphobia or debilitating anxiety which prevents them from leaving home,” said PMP Paniker, Para- medical cooperative society Vice President. More services will be performed in the rural parts of the District. “The highlight will be that the prices charged for each test, will be half the price collected by a laboratory in the private sector”, he added.
A similar laboratory was earlier initiated by the Neethi Society, seven years ago, but could not include many tests which required higher levels of technology in the laboratory. “ But now with the wide changes in the medical sector, we have introduced the laboratory that can carry out maximum clinical tests in a short span of time. Some of the tests to be performed in the lab include blood test, complete haemogram, LFT, FLP, HIV-HCV-HBSAg, serum creatinine test, serum cholesterol and blood urine at an affordable price. MLA A Pradeep Kumar launched the facility here at Sena Tourist Home, near Kozhikode Government Medical College Hospital.
