Nipah virus: 48 more samples test NiV negative
There are 3 confirmed cases under treatment, two from Kozhikode and a Malappuram native.
KOZHIKODE: All the 48 Nipah test samples received on Tuesday turned to be negative. This includes a case reported at Thrissur. Four new suspected cases were also reported on Tuesday and three of their result is yet to be known. The samples of the two children of the deceased nurse Liny of Chempanoda in Perambra tested negative. There are 3 confirmed cases under treatment, two from Kozhikode and a Malappuram native. In tracing the source, authorities are looking forward to the result of the body fluids of fruit bat which was caught from the spot in Perambra on Monday night.
Another expectation is the arrival of the medicine compound, M 102.4 human monoclonal antibody, from Australia. It would be administered under the supervision of experts of ICMR. District Medical Officer Dr V Jayashree told that the drug was expected to reach here in few days.
