KOCHI: Soon after the Central Pollution Control Board delegation returned after the 10-day long inspection on industrial units, another incident of fish kill has been reported from Muttar puzha, tributary of River Periyar at Eloor. From Tuesday morning, the river’s colour started changing with dead fishes seen on the surface.

As per the instruction of Kalamassery municipal chairperson Jessy Peter, State Pollution Control Board officials visited the site and took samples. According to PCB authorities, depletion in the level of dissolved oxygen in the river might be the reason for fish death. Meanwhile, green groups point towards discharge of toxic effluents from industrial units to the river for recurring incidents of fish kills.
