The tourists can enjoy the outing with the sheep in its natural surroundings and to help children enjoy the environment with sheep.
Ooty: Nilgiri products such as eucalyptus oil, tea and of course the separate park for Nilgiri sheep will be an added attraction in the garden being developed by the horticulture department of Karnataka here in the hills.
Elaborating on this Mr B.K. Krishnamurthy, Horticulture Officer of Karnataka, said the horticulture think-tank at Karnataka thought that those who visit this garden in Ooty should learn more about the Nilgiri products. “Since sheep being reared in Nilgiris for its fine wool is very special to the hills, the department has already procured about 20 sheep from the government sheep breeding farm in Ooty. The tourists can enjoy the outing with the sheep in its natural surroundings and to help children enjoy the environment with sheep”.
This apart, Nilgiri products such as eucalyptus oil, herbal products, Nilgiri tea, Ooty home-made chocolates, Aavain products will be exhibited in the garden to help the tourists to take lessons on Nilgiri products and also to buy them. This would make the garden both entertaining and educative and be helpful in kindling interest in kitchen garden culture and growing flowers, he said.
