Hyderabad: Spreading fire poses danger

In Hyderabad, most fire calls are due to road side garbage fires and from January to March is the season when leaves fall.

Update: 2017-03-12 20:50 GMT
The forest fire raging at Aane Kaadu and Aththooru reserve forest in Somwarpet, Kodagu district, has destroyed more than 1,000 acres of forest.

Hyderabad: Burning garbage in the open is also a fire hazard. Two cars caught fire when someone burnt garbage at BSNL corporate office in Adarshnagar recently and in another incident, it caused a big fire at Indira Park in January. Such careless accidents have increased in the city as unsegregated garbage continues to be burnt out in the open in the city.

In March around 60-80 fires have been reported to the city fire control room from Malakpet, Lunger House, Secunderabad, Mushirabad, Moula Ali, Golconda, Trimulgherrri, and Sanathnagar.

The fire department says most of the fire accidents reported between January and March happened due to open garbage burning as trees shed their leaves at this time.

Srinivas Reddy, district fire officer, Hyderabad, said, “In Hyderabad, most fire calls are due to road side garbage fires and from January to March is the season when leaves fall. In the month of March we got around 60 to 80 fire calls about garbage fires and carelessness.”
