Modern kennel opened in Vijayawada

The VMC will use the shed to perform preventive birth control operations on strays and also accommodate the animals on the premises.

Vijayawada: The VMC has opened  a new kennel in the 55th division,  at Singhnagar in the city. Mayor Koneru Sridhar and commissioner J. Nivas inaugurated the shed on Monday. The VMC will use the shed to perform preventive birth control operations on strays and also accommodate the animals on the premises. About Rs 37 lakh was spent to build the shed.

Commissioner J. Nivas said the completely equipped premises will be useful to perform the operations on strays. About four batches of staff have been deployed to catch street dogs and 4 vehicles have been provided to them. Earlier, only 60 dogs could be accommodated in the building but now, the shed can accommodate 250 dogs. Deputy Mayor G.V Ramanarao and others were present.
