Kozhikode corporation to organise sterilisation camps on stray dogs
The mayor pointed out that the project has already been included in the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIFB).
KOZHIKODE: The Kozhikode city corporation council on Monday decided to conduct two more sterilisation camps under its animal birth control programme citing frequent complaints from residents on the increasing threat of stray dogs. Mayor Thottathil Raveendran said the District Planning Committee (DPC) has approved the project and a city-based company has been entrusted with the kennel construction works. “We will take steps to start the camp as soon as that work is complete," the mayor said.
In the meeting Opposition members urged the Corporation to take steps to avert irregularities committed by contractors and increase the license renewal charge. Councilor P.M. Niyas alleged that the city corporation was incurring huge losses due to lapses committed by officers concerned in getting monthly rents and reformation charges. O. Saranya of the Congress, while presenting the calling for attention motion, demanded enhanced steps to check the quality of eateries.
In his reply, health standing committee chairman K.V. Baburaj said the Corporation health officials have already inspected 177 eateries, including some well-known restaurants and eateries. The council meeting brought amendment to the resolution moved by P. Kishanchand over non-allocation of fund for the Mananchira-Vellimadukunnu road construction. The mayor pointed out that the project has already been included in the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIFB).
