Maharashtra participates as host state at Global Exhibition on Services 2018

The 4th edition of the Global Exhibition on Services (GES) aims to increase trade services between our country and the globe.

Maharashtra is host for the Global Exhibition on Services 2018.

Mumbai: Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) has participated in the Global Exhibition on Services from May 15 to 18 to showcase tourism potential of Maharashtra in agri tourism, medical tourism, Buddhist tourism etc. to attract visitors from around the world.

The 4th edition of the Global Exhibition on Services (GES) aims to increase trade services between our country and the globe.

Maharashtra is host for the Global Exhibition on Services 2018. On the occasion of World Agri-Tourism Day, MTDC is promoting agri-tourism, as the state has huge potential and farmers can take up agri-tourism, along with regular farming to boost their income.

This will assist the tourists to understand all activities related to farming and the kind of crops that are grown in the state. This will link the gap and connect the tourists from urban India with the rural population.

In addition, MTDC is promoting medical tourism and Buddhist tourism to tap the new avenues of tourist attraction.

Maharashtra provides the best medical services with the most sophisticated and latest facilities along with proficient healthcare experts making it an ideal place to promote medical tourism.

Similarly, MTDC is also encouraging Buddhist pilgrimage in Maharashtra by developing sites where Lord Buddha was born, taught, preached and attained nirvana.

Some of the holy Buddhist sites are Deekshabhoomi in Nagpur, Nalasopara Stupa, the Mandapeshwar Caves in Borivali, Chaityabhoomi in Dadar, the Kanheri Caves in Sanjay Gandhi National Park, the Elephanta Caves and Ajanta and Ellora are certainly going to surge the tourist influx in the State.

Commenting on the occasion, Jaykumar Rawal, Hon'ble Minister of Tourism, Government of Maharashtra said, “We are pleased to bring the world of tourism services under one roof and get encouraged by industry leaders and their novelties in the travel segment. This is an excellent platform to grow our businesses and meet the new stakeholders from across the world.”

He further added, “Maharashtra has rich tourism services to fulfill the requirements of visitors. Participation at Global Exhibition on Services 2018 is a wonderful opportunity to aggressively market the tourism inventories, lively culture, exclusive destinations and investment prospects in Maharashtra.”

Commenting on the occasion, Vijay Gautam, (IAS), Principal Secretary, Department of Tourism, Government of Maharashtra said, ”We have observed that tourism as one of the fastest growing industries worldwide. Through, Global Exhibition on Services 2018, we are promoting our tourism inventories like medical tourism, agri-tourism and Buddhist tourism. We are now looking to create a unique identity by offering best services for the world and establish ourselves as the best tourism destination and it will pave a way for creating a roadmap for the State.”
