Chinese doctors grow new ear on man's arm and transplant it to his head
The man had met with a major accident in 2015 and did not have his right ear
Getting a transplant is quite difficult and doctors have to wait for a while before they can help the patient. Doctors in China recently did the unthinkable when they made a transplant to help a patient without a year and it was quite extraordinary.
According to a report in the Daily Mail, plastic surgeon Dr. Guo Shuzhong recently did the unimaginable when he grew a new ear in a man’s forearm with the help of 3D- printing technology. The patient, Mr. Ji was involved in a serious accident in 2015 and had undergone several surgeries to repair his facial skin and cheeks but was sad he didn’t have his right here before the surgery happened. The ear was made from the cartilage in the ribs and was growing for several months on the arm before the seven hour operation by the doctor.
The ear which was grown on the arm under excess skin has been fitted to the man’s head and has blood flowing through it successfully. Mr. Ji will be under observation for the next two weeks before he is let go. Dr Guo Shuzhong was also the first to complete a face transplant operation in China in 2006.
