For the uninitiated, three-on-three basketball is one of the many popular format in which the game is played.
The indoor court of ToCH Public School at Vyttila will be witness to a unique event on Saturday. Presenting an everyday sport with a twist, each hit on the basketball court would fund for someone in need. Proceeds from the charity three-on-three basketball tournament, Hoop for Hope, organised by the Rotary Club of Cochin Lands End go to Cancure, a not-for-profit foundation for cancer cure.
For the uninitiated, three-on-three basketball is one of the many popular format in which the game is played. Adjudged as the largest urban team sport of the world, each team consists of three players and one substitute. The game is played on a half-court, with one basket. Every successful shot inside the arc is awarded one point and behind the arc gets two points. The first team that emerges scoring 21 points or the team with highest score at the end of the 10 minutes will be the winner.
Winners shall receive a cash award of Rs 10,000 and runners up get a cash purse of Rs 5,000. Registration fee is Rs 3000 per team. Further details can be had from 9846053901.
