Watch: Girl gets emotional after being gifted a doll with prosthetic leg
“Thank you for making a doll like me!â€says the 10-year-old girl who has a missing right leg.
A 10-year-old girl in Texas wept with joy after finding out that her new doll had a prosthetic leg, just like her. The creators of the American Girl dolls are famous for making mini-versions of their fans with matching skin tone, hair, eyes, and even accessories on order. Emma, who has a missing right leg, also wanted an American Girl doll that would resemble her but the company did not manufacture dolls with prosthetic limbs.
This led her mother, Courtney Fletcher Bennett, to approach a company called A Step Ahead Prosthetics that made full-size prosthetics for people and requested them to make a prosthetic leg for Emma’s American Girl doll. Luckily her wish was answered and Courtney decided to capture the heart-warming moment when her daughter finally gets to see her special doll. Upon seeing her doll with a bright pink prosthetic leg, Emma is seen sobbing and hugging it before saying, “Thank you for making a doll like me!”
The touching video has gone viral and has been shared more than a million times on Facebook. Many commentators have even remarked that they too cried with Emma while watching the video.
