The team at Glamour have made a video which shows just how unfairly expensive it is for a woman to live in the world while men have it so much easier.

The video gives us a glimpse of the startling difference between the average amounts that women and men spend on products in a year. You’ll be shocked to find out how products meant for women are way pricier than those geared towards men right from clothing to even items used for personal hygiene (of course, things like tampons are something that men will never have to worry about).

The moment when they start talking about make-up costs is when it really hurts. For those who’d still argue that make-up is a personal choice, you need to understand that for many women like those working in the hospitality industry – make-up is a compulsory requirement to look ‘presentable’.

For those who don’t know, this appalling form of economic sexism is known as the ‘women’s tax’. Let’s just hope that the powers that be do something about this urgently.
