It's time for chocolates worldwide again. July 7 was the official World Chocolate Day and chocolate makers are celebrating a sweet & charming weekend.
The five star chefs of the city have planned a nice array of chocolatey delights. Master chef Deepthi Joji at ITC and team have curated a chocolate spread keeping the city’s palate in mind. A plethora of chocolates is on offer — pistachio brownie, chocolate scones, hazelnut & blueberry nougat. A special dessert with jasmine and orange punch has a distinct local touch. The buffet is offering special desserts. An assortment of beverages served by Fabelle comprises Jasmine milk chocolate mousse, 67% Madagascar coconut crunch cremeux, apple & white chocolate verrine, 70% St Domingue chocolate torte (gluten free) and ITC’s special goat cheese macaron.
Chennai’s Fabelle master chocolatiers have combined the tastes and textures of the highest quality single origin cocoas with the rarest ingredients, typically Acacia nectar, Madagascar vanilla, French sea salt, Lankan cinnamon and Ancho chilli in single-origin chocolates. By nature, chocolate is smooth and Ganache’s velvety soft cubes of cocoas are delicately churned with butter, fresh cream. Single origin cocoas are sourced from the best cocoa growing regions in Africa and South America like Madagascar, Ivory Coast and Venezuela. Saint Domingue and Sao Tom come with specialties like Madagascar’s chocolate with 67% dark content while Saint Domingue’s has a higher notch to it.
Taj Coromandel’s pastry expert Ravi Varma has lined up special chocolate offerings that include chocolates and pralines, desserts, cakes, tea cakes and much more. The thread of delicacies includes rich cakes like Chocolate Elsys cake; Baileys and chocolate mousse cake; white chocolate and berry torteand chocolate and hazelnut praline gateaux.
Or try the tea cakes like chocolate and walnut cake, coffee and chocolate cakeand chocolate and orange marble cake. With a touch of spices, the desserts also come with a new flavour like single origin chocolate and praline mousse, textures of chocolate in a trendy way. Some spices like hot chilli, sea salt caramel, tangy lemon, bitter coffee and sweet mango saffron lend an exotic touch. A variety of desserts like Chocolate Choux, raspberry and pine nut chocolate brownie would be on offer until today.
The Above Sea Level, in Raintree St. Mary’s Road, has a cocktail menu on this chocolatey weekend with some special cocktails – Chocolate Martini, Choco Latini and Chocolate Margarita. A classic cocktail menu is also on for the cocktail consumers, obviously with the addition of special chocolate flavours. The chocolate syrups and tangy chocolate sauces like grated chocolates or flakes used in Margarita give an amazing fragrance that would draw you into the delights of the world of chocos.
