Ananyabrata Chakravorty, a short-film maker and author had the opportunity to work with Ricky Martin as his Hindi lyricist for Vente Pa Ca (feat. Akasa). 90 to Win is his first short film with a 9.6 rating on IMDb. He answered our rapid fire round...
1. Your short film in a few words.
It’s called 90 to Win. It’s a math fiction short film about an Indian man who creates a better alternative to cricket’s most questionable rule — the Duckworth-Lewis Method. It was produced by Prashanti Malisetti for a digital channel The Gist.
2. Inspiration for the film?
From cricket. I am a big fan and had developed an alternative to the Duckworth-Lewis Method with my friend Sourav Agarwalla during Engineering.
3. If not for a filmmaker, what would you be doing?
I am here to create new stories and tell them to you all. So, if I wouldn’t be writing films, I’d be writing novels.
4. If you could be any animal in the world, what animal would you be and why?
Giraffe. I mean, I should be tall somewhere, at least.
5. Which fictional character would be the most boring to meet in real life?
Kumbhkaran. This dude just doesn’t wake up. And snores on top of that. He’s not just boring, he’s annoying. I feel like killing him sometimes. Oh, sorry, you said ‘fictional’.
6. If you were a DJ, what would your DJ name be?
DJ Mute. That’s because I’ll specialise in headphone parties. But if you insist that I must talk then probably I’ll go by ‘Keh DJ’.
7. You are about to get into a fight, what song comes as your soundtrack?
The Main mila tu mili part of Kaali Kaali Aankhen, as sung by Anu Malik. No other soundtrack.
8. A quirky trait not many people know about you?
I like to mimic Tony Greig and Harsha Bhogle.
9. Why short films?
Because not all stories are two-hour long.
10. What’s the last movie you watched?
I watched Inferno online last night. It’s a Ron Howard film based on a Dan Brown novel. It had a lot of positives for me to learn from.
