A group of locals drew intense criticism after they were spotted cutting up a baby whale washed up on a beach instead of trying to help it get back into the water. Reports reveal that the five metre long humpback whale was still alive when it landed on the beach shore after getting lost in the shallow waters.

However, the locals decided to cut the creature open and distribute portions of its meat instead of trying to save its life. In fact, by the next day all that was left of the huge mammal was its carcass. Videos and pictures of the cut-up whale soon went viral and enraged wildlife lovers.

The place where the incident took place is a town named Bolshoy Kamen in south east Russia, according to media reports.
