Bonding on the road
T-town film distributors Abhishek Nama and Kaali Sudheer open up about their everlasting friendship.
Travelling together often creates a special bond between fellow travellers. Exploring a different country together and discovering new perspectives helps build strong relationships. That said, film distributors — Abhishek Nama and Kaali Sudheer — also started bonding while travelling together.
“These experiences and memories are priceless,” shares Sudheer and adds, “A few months back, Abhishek came home in the middle of the night and asked me to get ready. We headed straight to the airport and boarded a flight to Phuket. Abhishek likes to give such surprises.”
Two childhood friends turned filmmaking partners, both of them always had a common passion for the outdoors. Even though, Kaali and Abhishek first met at their relative’s place when they were kids, Abhishek points out that they did not connect then.
“Our friendship grew gradually. I took time to connect. We were a group of friends. We used to hangout within the group but both of us connected more on the intellectual level,” chips in Kaali.
Abhishek and Kaali, who are film distributors, also share a family connection. Kaali’s wife is related to Abhishek.
“Our wives play a major role in strengthening our friendship,” says Kaali.
But for Abhishek, “Friendship has always been the most accessible of all relationships. It’s his honesty and the fact that he will never cheat or never go against me at any point of time — strengthened our friendship.”
Arts and movies provide the glue to their friendship. They were in headlines when director Puri Jagannadh accused that they tried to extort money from him, but Kaali Sudheer and Abhishek Nama have supported each other through the ups and downs. “We were able to face it only because of our mutual understanding and trust that we have for each other. We don’t care what people think about us. All we know is that we are there for each other at all stages of life,” they sign off together.
