The world’s focus on Aleppo has been intense recently because of the heavy bombardment carried out on the ancient Syrian city by regime forces and its allies. The heavy artillery shelling and air missile attacks have transformed the once bustling metropolis into a graveyard haunted by its past.

Everything that forms a part of a city's infrastructure – hospitals, restaurants, malls, schools, parks – and even heritage landmarks have become almost unrecognisably destroyed. Bullet-strewn streets and deserted homes render the place a post-apocalyptic air.
