The girl has been named 'Miracle' by the doctors.
Rising crime and terrorism has resulted in a lot of bloodshed and despair across the globe, creating an environment that betrays a sense of hopelessness among people. But every once in a while, a glimmer of light appears to restore faith in a better future.
19-year-old Parashay Beard was six months pregnant when she was shot in a car with her boyfriend as bullets rained from all directions. While both were moved to the hospital with gunshot wounds in the neck, the woman died while her boyfriend was rendered in a critical condition.
But doctors were able to deliver her premature baby safely and even named the child 'Miracle' considering the circumstances she was born in. Parashay’s family who described her as an outgoing person, have welcomed the child.
The shooting is said to be gang-related, according to the authorities.
