Ripple effect of fragrant hues
The play of aromas and ambient lighting can transform any home. An expert gives you quick tips.
Here are some tips that will integrate ambient lighting and aromas into your home... adding positivity to the interiors.
For the bedroom
Use an ultrasonic diffuser for a subtle aroma along with warm lighting. Dress up a mantel with an array of candles — tall, small, mercury glass, crystal in vibrant shades adding to the bright vibes around.
Go beyond the clichéd colours of red, gold and white, and introduce new, trending colours of the year. Decorate a cosy corner of your bedroom with beautiful candleholders in the Pantone ultraviolet shades, along with a tea-light packed with an apple cinnamon fragrance. The fruity fragrance of apple gently refreshes the exhausted mind. Trusty cinnamon works like magic, and stimulates energy and vitality. You can also add some fresh flowers in a vibrant ultraviolet shade to place in a silver julep cup for extra glam.
Use pillow misters in lavender and fennel to relax the body. It helps you with peaceful sleep and rejuvenates the mind and body.
Create a fragrant corner by adding fragrance sachets in a wicker basket, surrounded by scented candles. Sachets can contain vermiculite powder fragrance pouches containing eva beads that absorb essential oils that gently release fragrances. Ideal for fragrancing small spaces.
For the Bathroom
This new year, bring in a couple of tea lights and ceramic diffusers with an aroma of lemongrass for a soothing effect.
Place reed diffusers surrounded by beautiful scented candles for a soothing and aromatic experience. Fashioned from tall still grass that is porous and excellent for diffusion, Reed Diffusers work on the principle of capillary action. When partially immersed in a can of essential oils, fragrance travels up the reed and gently permeates the room. IRIS Luxia has a fibrous reed that doesn’t require flipping over like the porous ones.
For the Kitchen
For the days you can’t create a signature scent for your kitchen by way of baked goods, try a citrus scent. To permeate any scent throughout the house, turn on the stove. Simmer water in a small saucepan and add citrus slices and herbs, like lavender or mint. Add drops of essential oils to the mix to amplify the aroma.
Add mini wreaths with fairy lights infused with a sumptuous aroma of lemon or vanilla.
For the Living area
Pick your favourite corner in the house, and turn it into a cozy nook this season. Put a comfy couch and coffee table topped with a sequenced runner, aromatic candles and sparkling glass bowls filled with flower petals and fruity and frosty aroma infused floating candles.
For the verandah
In the verandah, hang a pretty candle holder with a refreshing aroma of
Tuberose or Floral beats.
Make your abode vibrant by using a good mix of potpourri in all the nooks and corners. Spray fragrant mists on the potpourri to extend life. Add a whiff of exotic Coral Blue aroma.
For the Garden
Citronella and Lemon Grass oils combined with other herbal extracts create a pleasantly fragrant atmosphere. Add a dash of light with electric vaporiser lamps.
