The pre-Monsoon is pouring down upon us and the Monsoon is set to change the city into a drizzle paradise. But, it also means that wet is the modus operandi and the home bears the brunt of the constant pitter patter and dampness. Here are five must-buys to prepare your home for this rainy season:

Get a drying Rack: One of the biggest set-backs this season is the fact that the weather leaves clothes damp. Considering how the downpour prevents you from drying clothes outside, well-fitted racks are the best investments for rainy months. With aesthetically appealing variants available, you can settle for quirky racks, which can also spruce up interiors. There are drying racks perfectly suited for apartments of different sizes (ones that can also be fitted into walls or the tiniest corner of the house.).

Ornamental wall hooks: Surviving a heavy rain is no easy feat. But, what can be more unnerving is stepping indoors with the water dripping in! And, that’s where wall hooks come in handy. While you probably would’ve had these, ensure you stock up on a couple to brave the season! To add a touch of verve, settle for variants that are in eye-catchy motifs that do the double duty of adding up as a show-piece as well.

Walk on a dry mat: Mopping up the mud you dragged home from the rain is no fun. Place dry mats, preferably on either side of your entrance, to wipe shoes before you take them off and then for your feet, once you are inside. Rubber and coir doormats absorb water well, and get rid of the dirt with minimum effort. Plastic or synthetic faux grass mats are also an option as these are low maintenance.

Seat it dry: Change small pieces of your furniture according to the season. Invest in slip covers for indoor furniture. If you have an outdoor space, there are tonnes of outdoor furniture options that are faux wood but plastic that look great. Designate an area near the entrance for wet raincoats and umbrellas. A tall basket is a good idea as an umbrella stand.

Drape it light: Pick light fabrics for drapes. Usually, fabrics with a synthetic blend such as georgette or chiffon that are easy to dry. Corals and bright colours like orange and yellow  will brighten up the space.
