MAHBUBABAD (WARANGAL): In a heart-warming move, 40 Class VIII students from a high school at Kambalapalli ZP in Mahbubabad mandal pooled in a total of Rs 700 to buy books and a bag for their orphaned classmate.

Student Esam Devi lost her mother recently. Her father, had passed away two years ago. But her enterprising friends stepped in and handed over books and school materials to Devi  in the presence of headmaster M. Srinivasulu and class teacher V. Gurunadha Rao.

“If everyone just remembers to give back to society, all our villages will be developed. When we heard of Devi’s parents, we all immediately decided to help,” classmate G. Sumalika said.

The school’s teachers were full of praise for the students. “Teachers should lead by example and help children understand the concept of values. It is our responsibility to make them understand the importance of life’s greatest values, Class teacher V. Gurunadha Rao said.
