Sports brand giant Nike’s ad, which was released earlier this month, drew lots of praise for bringing the much-needed spotlight on Indian sportswomen. But one cannot help but agree that the catchy video was somehow limited in its portrayal of the diversity of Indian womanhood. But this awesome video response to the ‘Da Da Ding’ ad which features gutsy rural Indian women will leave you even more impressed.

YouTube channel Epic Spiritual recreated the video by splicing in footage of rural Indian women going about their daily lives: carrying out domestic chores, doing hard physical labour to support their families and yet wearing a smile on their faces. The contributions of such countless women are hardly ever acknowledged by urban India even though they perform an important role in our society.

A description posted along with the video reads: “Dedicated to the women who have been doing it anyway for centuries without appreciation, without appreciation and that too in very difficult condition. Definitely without shoes that cost more than what they earn in a month.”

Now that’s definitely some food for thought, isn’t it?
