If you are looking to experience a Tablet PC for the first time with all the standard functionality but minus any pricey bells-n-whistles, the Ambrane A3-770 is a great place to start.

The 7-inch screen has an acceptable 1024x600 pixel resolution. There are two cameras — 2MP and 0.3 MP — and 2 SIM slots for 3G and 2G calling. The 1GB RAM and 8GB storage, which is expandable to 32GB using a MicroSD card. The 1.3 Cortex dual-core 1.3GHz processor is no slouch and the Wi-Fi antenna is also quick and sensitive. An FM radio and the built-in MP3 player sounded good and loud.

We were thrilled to find the makers had thrown in for free, a cool rubber-tipped stylus – something that even the priciest tablets omit – and for its snub nose, it was surprisingly accurate. Another thoughtful service is the one year accidental damage cover in the warranty.

All in all a paisa vasool package for Rs 3,999.
