Hyderabad: To save her father in a murder bid, a 17-year-old tribal girl fought with a group of eight armed men on Monday in a village in Maoist-affected Naryanpur district of Bastar, in Chhattisgarh.

Somdhar Korram, the victim, was admitted to the hospital with a serious cut on his chest. As per doctors, he is in a stable condition now.
The victim was attacked by the gang when they broke into their house with an axe, but the girl charged the attacker, took the weapon away from him, and stood guarding her father.
Her comeback scared the attackers and neighbours got the time to organise a rescue and the group ran away. The event happened in Jharagaon.
While speaking to an English daily, the girl said, “There were eight of them. They banged on the door and demanded to see my father. I looked out the window and saw they were masked, carrying axes. Two of them had guns.”
“I returned after a while to serve him dinner and was shocked to see that the masked men were back, and they had surrounded my father. I started running towards them. I watched in horror as one of the men lifted his axe and brought it down on my father’s chest. I was only a second late but rushed into the melee and grappled with the axeman. I snatched the axe from him, and hurled it away,” she added.
Prabhat Singh, Naryanpur SP said police have begun investigating the murder bid.
