62.2 pc voting registered in 5th phase Lok Sabha elections: ECI
New Delhi: A voter turnout of 62.2 per cent has been recorded in phase five for 49 Parliament Constituencies (PCs) in eight States and Union Territories (UTs) in the ongoing general elections-2024, according to the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Thursday.
Of the 62.2 per cent of voting in phase five, women turnout registered 63 per cent while men 61.48 per cent and third gender 21.96 per cent in eight States – Bihar, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Ladakh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.
Of these States, West Bengal registered the highest voter turnout of 78.45 per cent followed by Odisha 73.50 per cent and Ladakh 71.82 per cent. However, Bihar registered less turnout of 56.76 per cent, the ECI said.
It said re-polling at two polling stations in Kandhamal PC in Odisha will be concluded today and the figures may get further updated accordingly once the data is updated for the repoll, which can be seen in the voter turnout app later.
