Agniveer’ killed, two other jawans injured in mine blast at LoC

Srinagar: An Agniveer was killed and two other Army jawans were injured in a landmine blast along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district on Thursday.


According to a report received here, the incident occurred in the Nowshera sector of the LoC. It said that the trio was critically injured in the explosion. One of them, an Agniveer, succumbed to the injuries soon after he was admitted to a military hospital.

It is not clear if it was a leftover landmine or a fresh one or an improvised explosive device laid by militants. The police said that they are investigating the incident.

Local news agency GNS reported that the injured soldiers were shifted to the Army command hospital in the garrison town of Udhampur where one of them succumbed.
