Anantapur: The convoy of YSRC Rayalaseema regional coordinator and in-charge minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy was blocked for about half an hour by protesting Anganwadi workers in Uravakonda town of Anantapur district on Saturday.

Ramachandra Reddy had arrived in Uravakonda to review arrangements for Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s visit scheduled on January 23 to launch the YSR Aasara programme across the state.

When the minister’s convoy reached the main road of Uravakonda, a huge number of Anganwadi workers and political party leaders supporting them stopped the convoy, demanding that the state government meet their demands.

As the protest was sudden, the minister convoy remained stuck for about half an hour before police forces rushed to clear the way traffic by forcibly moving aside the protestors from the spot.

Uravakonda MLA Payyavula Kesav of TD reached the spot and expressed his support to the Anganwadi workers.

Later, the minister inspected the venue for the CM’s public meeting adjacent to the empty place near the fuel filling station on the main road. Ramachandra Reddy directed officials and leaders to make elaborate arrangements for Jagan Mohan’s visit and make it a success.
