Vijayawada: The AP government has kept in abeyance transfers of over 1,100 school teachers / heads in the state.

Principal secretary (School Education) Praveen Prakash has issued a memo in this regard on Thursday.

The then YSRC government had issued eight transfer orders during February, March and April on personal / mutual basis with a condition that these orders will come into effect after the end of the Model Code of Conduct.

These orders have now been kept in abeyance.

A section of school teachers has alleged that certain teachers and masters have paid bribes and managed to get transfer orders based on either mutual interest or clear vacancy. There have also been allegations of corruption against the then school education minister Botsa Satyanarayana with regard to transfers.

With the TD-JS-BJP alliance getting elected with a huge majority in the 2024 elections, TD chief N. Chandrababu Naidu is expected to form a government very shortly.

Instructions have thus been issued not to implement the transfer orders even though the poll code has ended, as the new government could review these transfers.
