Anantapur: Bengaluru-based Indian Design Garments would establish a unit in Madakasira in Satya Sai district. It aims to provide direct employment to at least 3,000 skilled and unskilled workers.

Madakasira is about 130 km from Bengaluru. Two years ago, lack of support by the then government had forced them to take back step, it is said.

An AP team led by former MLC Gundumala Thippeswamy, MLA M.S. Raju, senior TD leader Sreenivasa Murthy and others discussed matters with the company heads in Bengaluru a couple of a days ago and promised governmental support to establish the unit in Madakasira.

Gundulama Thippeswamy said the company’s managing directors Jawed and Salman agreed to start the unit soon.

“This will be a big boost to the backward area of Madakasira as employment would be provided to more than 3,000 persons from rural areas. We shall provide necessary support from the government,” he said.

Similarly, another Bengaluru-based garment industry Texport Overseas Pvt Ltd has expressed its willingness to set up a unit in Madakasira. It promises to provide employment to people from Rolla, Gudibanda and Agali areas.

MLA Raju said the CEO Amith Roy gave this promise during a recent meeting at its Bengaluru head office.
