 Hyderabad: Following the death of Vistex CEO Sanjay Shah during an event at Ramoji Film City (RFC) on Friday, police registered a case of negligence against the event organisers and management after a complaint was filed by the company's executive director. In addition to negligence, lack of safety measures at RFC and delayed arrival of ambulance complicated the situation, says the complaint.

As soon as the event began, Shah and company vice-president Vishwanath Raju entered an iron cage, which was to be lowered from a height of 20 feet. While it was being brought down, the iron chain holding the cage broke on one side and both fell on the concrete dais. around 7.40 pm. The incident, recorded on video, led to the case against the event organisers under Sections 336 and 287 of the IPC.

Shah succumbed, while the condition of Raju is said to be serious. The multinational software company with 20 global offices and over 2000 employees, planned its silver jubilee celebrations at RFC on January 18 and 19.

Sources reveal that the incident will be thoroughly examined by the R&D team, while the department of factories will conduct a detailed analysis into the cause of the mishap.

More than 700 people attended the event. Apart from the two, no one else was harmed. The body of the deceased has been transported to Mumbai, said SI Venkat Ram Reddy.
