Raipur: One more body of a Naxal was recovered at the encounter site taking the death toll of Maoists in Friday’s encounter in Abujhmad under Bastar in Chhattisgarh to six, police said on Saturday.

The encounter took place in Gobel jungle along inter-district borders of Narayanpur-Dantewada- Kondagaon when Maoists attacked a joint search party comprising personnel of district reserve guard (DRG), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and CRPF in the Gobel at around three pm on Friday, leading to encounters between them.

“Bodies of six uniformed Naxals were recovered at the encounter site. Besides, a huge cache of arms, ammunition and a barrel grenade launcher were also recovered at the spot of incident”, Bastar range inspector general of police P Sunderraj said on Saturday while giving updates on Friday’s encounter.

All the six slain Maoists were identified.

They included Masiya Mandavi (30), who was sniper commander in People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) company number six, Ramesh Korram who was deputy commander in PLGA company number six and Sundari, who was a militia member in PLGA company number six.

All the three slain Naxals carried a bounty of Rs eight lakh each. Three jawans of DRG were also injured in the incident.

They are now out of danger, police said.
