C’garh to Pay Tendu Leaf Collectors in Naxal-Infested Areas in Cash
Raipur: Chhattisgarh chief minister Vishnu Deo Sai has ordered the authorities concerned to make cash payment to tendu leaf collectors in Naxal-infested areas in Bastar in the state.
The decision to pay the tendu leaf collectors in Naxal-infested districts of Sukma, Bijapur and Narayanpur in cash for the procurement of their produce was made considering the significant distances between the villages and the bank branches in these areas, official sources said on Tuesday.
The local administration has been asked to set up camps in the ‘haat bazaars’ (tribal markets) in these districts to pay the tendu leaf collectors in cash for the procurement of their produce.
In other districts, the remuneration will be directly deposited in the bank accounts of the tendu leaf collectors, official sources said.
The entire cash payment process in the Naxal-infested districts will be overseen by the district collectors concerned, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (PCCF) V Srinivas Rao said.
