Community participation must for rural development: Seethakka
Panchayat Raj Minister advocates integrated approaches for sustainable community solutions.
Warangal: Rural development is possible only with community participation and awareness among the people on various aspects of the society, said panchayat raj and rural development minister D. Anasuya Seethakka.
Speaking as a chief guest of the Annual Safe Water Convention organized by the Bala Vikas Kendram at Fathima Nagar in Kazipet of Hanamkonda district on Thursday, she said that the needs and requirements of the diverse community were met through integrated development approaches and the government was open to working together to design innovative community development initiatives that have sustainable solutions to the community problems which persists in the present society.
She lauded Bala Vikasa for creating over 2,000 community leaders who had been actively taking part and managing over 1,000 community water purification plants that provide safe potable water to the poor people living in rural areas.
Seethakka appealed to all the village leaders to constantly encourage communities to actively participate in the development initiatives and create a sense of social consciousness among youths for a bright future.Another chief guest Dr Sridhar, the chief scientist at the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT), suggested the best practices to maintain the quality of water following the regular cleaning protocols, water testing and usage of various filters for providing safe and pure drinking water to rural people.
Bala Vikasa founder president T. Singareddy Gingras, executive director Shoury Reddy Singareedy and Technical officer of IICT Dr Shyam Sundar were present.
