New Delhi: The special judge for CBI Coal Cases II, Rouse Avenue Courts, New Delhi on Monday convicted a Nagpur-based private company B. S. Ispat Limited and its two directors - Mohan Agrawal and Rakesh Agrawal in a case related to allocation of Marki Mangli Coal Block situated in Maharashtra, to the company.

The Central Bureau of Investigation had registered a case on March 31, 2015 on allegations that the accused submitted false information regarding existence of the company while submitting an application for the coal block and also during processing of the application for allocation of the coal block.

The coal block was allocated for captive use in the proposed sponge iron plant of three lakh tonnes per annum capacity. It was also alleged that the company had misappropriated the use of coal for other purposes than for which it was allocated. After completion of investigation, a charge sheet was filed against the accused on July 24, 2018.

The court held the accused guilty after trial and the arguments on sentence will be heard tomorrow on May 28, 2024.
