Court defers arguments in BRS MLC Kavitha’s bail plea to May 27
New Delhi: The Rouse Avenue Court on Friday posted the arguments related to bail petition filed by BRS MLC K Kavitha to May 27 in connection with Delhi liquor scam.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) informed the court that it would file a counter petition on May 27 and added that its advocates were ready to submit their arguments on Kavitha’s bail petition. On behalf of Kavitha, the defense advocates explained in detail the circumstances that led to her arrest on March 15, 2024.
The advocates on behalf of ED and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) would submit their arguments to oppose her bail. The ED informed the court that it would file a charge-sheet in the case on June 7.
The court earlier extended her judicial remand till June 3. She is presently lodged in Tihar jail in New Delhi after being arrested in connection with liquor scam in March 15, 2024 and since then she is in judicial remand.
It was the CBI that first registered the Delhi liquor scam case and took up the probe and later ED started a detailed investigation based on the First Information Report (FIR) issued by the CBI. The ED arrested Kavitha on March 15, 2024 from her residence in Banjara Hills and lodged her in Tihar jail.
The CBI arrested her on April 11, 2024.
