CPI Hails Installation of Tallest Ambedkar Statue
Vijayawada: The Communist Party of India has hailed the state government for installing the world’s tallest bronze statue of B.R. Ambedkar in Vijayawada.
CPI state secretary K. Ramakrishna, while appreciating the installation, criticised the state government for not inviting President Draupadi Murmu and AP Governor S.A. Nazeer to the mega event.
A delegation of CPI under the leadership of Ramakrishna visited the Ambedkar statue on the premises of Swarajya Maidan in Vijayawada on Saturday and paid their floral tributes.
Speaking on the occasion, Ramakrishna said Ambedkar was the greatest leader in the world. He fought for the depressed communities and against untouchability.
The CPI state secretary charged ruling YSR Congress of turning the entire function into a YSRC party programme. He condemned the remarks of many ministers comparing Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy with Ambedkar.
CPI state secretariat member Jalli Wilson and party leaders Ch. Koteswara Rao, P. Jamalaiah and B. Rayappa were among those present.
