HYDERABAD: Two persons working as directors of a Delhi-based e-commerce firm were arrested by the Rachakonda cyber crime police. The duo identified as Amit Baiduri and Chandra Shaker Upadhyaya, directors of www.dealsdilki.com, allegedly cheated a senior sales manager in the city. According to the police, the victim purchased goods worth Rs 2,000 through the www.dealsdilki.com. After the goods were delivered, he received an email stating that he had won a car in a lottery for purchase through their website. To receive the car, he was asked to pay Rs 2,499 for registration.
Later he got calls asking for money for insurance, colour preference, handling and facilitation. He paid a total of Rs 3.18 lakh till December last year. He was also asked to pay Rs 1.93 lakh towards the legal process. “After realising that he was cheated, he lodged a complaint but due to repeated calls from telecallers to pay the balance charges, he transferred Rs 41,700 online to the accounts given by the suspects,” cybercrime inspector Md Riyazuddin said. During investigation, Police traced the bank accounts to Delhi and arrested the suspects. They were brought to Hyderabad on a transit warrant and sent to remand.
