Hyderabad: Wipro employee kidnaps harasser
Sai Kumar reportedly got her phone number and began harassing her about a week ago.
Hyderabad: A woman employee from Wipro and five others who attacked a 22-year-old man for reportedly harassing her have been booked for alleged kidnap and attempt to murder.
On Thursday, Divya, project manager with Wipro, accompanied by five of her male friends allegedly beat up V. Sai Kumar of Borabanda near St Mary’s School, Secunderabad, and kidnapped him.
Sai Kumar, a carpenter, works at an under-construction site owned by one of Divya’s friends. He saw Divya when she visited her friend’s house on numerous occasions.
Sai Kumar reportedly got her phone number and began harassing her about a week ago. He did not identify himself to Divya.
In order to teach him a lesson, Divya asked Sai Kumar to meet her at St Mary’s School. Since she could not identify him, she asked Sai Kumar to raise his hand when he reached the spot. When Sai Kumar did so, Divya and her male friends attacked the alleged harasser.
Gopalapuram police inspector M. Niranjan Reddy, “The software employee and her friends beat him and took him to a place in Lalaguda police limits.”
“He escaped from them and rushed to Gandhi Hospital for treatment. He sustained injuries on his face and ear,” Mr Reddy said. “The incident came into light when the Gandhi Hospital staff and Sai Kumar informed the police,” Mr Reddy added.
Police booked a case under IPC Sections 363 (punishment for kidnapping), 307 (attempt to murder) read with 34 IPC (common intent) against the Wipro employee and the five men. According to the police, the six members are absconding.
